What is the Nest Egg Program?

Launched in 2024, the program offers an annual financial contribution of up to R$1,000 for public high school students with a per capita family income of up to half the minimum wage. 

The amount is deposited into a social savings account, in a secure and transparent manner, and can be used for various purposes, such as:

  • School supplies and uniforms: ensuring that young people have access to the resources they need for learning.
  • Transportation assistance: facilitate travel to school and prevent school dropouts.
  • Extracurricular courses: expanding opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Food: ensuring food security and contributing to the well-being of young people.
  • Other basic needs: provide decent living conditions and full development.

Who can participate in the program?

To access the benefit, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be regularly enrolled in public high school;
  • Be between 14 and 24 years old;
  • Have a per capita family income of up to half the minimum wage;
  • Be registered in Single Registry (CadÚnico).

How to sign up for the Nest Egg Program?

State networks will be responsible for capture and report student data to the Ministry (personal, academic and necessary to open accounts).

The MEC will filter eligible students and send the payrolls to the Federal Savings Bank, who will open the accounts and make payments and manage savings.

Go to your school's office and see if they have already registered for the program, as student registration has a deadline.

Values of the Nest Egg Program

The Nest Egg Program offers an annual financial incentive of up to R$ 3,000 for public high school students in situations of social vulnerability. 

The total amount is divided into different categories as detailed below:

1. Enrollment Incentive (R$ 200)

  • Objective: Encourage enrollment and retention in school.
  • Payment: Only once, at the time of registration.

2. Attendance Incentive (R$ 1,800)

  • Objective: Encourage regular attendance at classes.
  • Payment: 9 installments of R$ 200, provided the student has a minimum attendance of 75%.

3. Completion Incentive (R$ 1,000)

  • Objective: Encourage completion of high school.
  • Payment: Only once, at the end of the school year, upon passing all subjects.

4. Enem Bonus (R$ 200)

  • Objective: Encourage participation in the National High School Exam (Enem).
  • Payment: One time only, upon participation in Enem.

Important notes:

  • The maximum amount a student can receive per year is R$ 3,000.
  • Amounts deposited into social savings accounts are adjusted by the Reference Rate (TR).
  • The student can withdraw the amounts after completing high school or upon turning 24.
  • In the event of school dropout, the student may have to return the amounts received.

Considering that high school lasts three years, the total amount transferred by Nest Egg Program can reach R$9,200.00.
