Free Pass for the Unemployed: CPTM, EMTU and Metro

CPTM (São Paulo Metropolitan Train Company) and the São Paulo Metro offer a benefit for those who are unemployed: Free Pass.

This benefit allows unemployed people to use free public transportation, facilitating access to job interviews and other essential commitments while searching for a new opportunity.

To apply for the Free Pass, you must have been unemployed for at least one month and have worked with a signed employment contract for at least six months.

The interested party must go to one of the CPTM or Metro stations with the following documents: ID, CPF, work card and letter of resignation.

Document analysis is carried out on-site, and if approved, the benefit is granted quickly.

With the Free Pass, users are entitled to free travel on the entire CPTM and Metro network for 90 days. This pass can be renewed if they remain unemployed during that period.

Therefore, we can request a Credential for Workers who have lost their jobs, which will be delivered free of charge to the municipal system.

Like the certificate, it is valid for 3 months because it works semi-automatically, issued every 30 to 180 days.

As a user app, our professionals who have been unemployed for more than a month can apply for the benefit through the service system. It also offers free integrated access to CPTM and the Metro.

The certificate can be issued at the CPTM cashier's Palmeiras-Barra station, in the afternoon (except holidays), from 8 am to 4 pm.

Passengers must show their ID and driver's license to employees to enter the subway or CPTM.

Requirements include proving unemployment with a work card (physical or digital) and termination of the contract.

To request the EMTU (Metropolitan Urban Transport Company) Free Pass, the process usually begins with educational institution for students. Or directly at service stations for other modalities (such as the Unemployed Pass).

In the case of students, the school or college makes an initial registration on the EMTU portal, and the student completes the application online.

For the Unemployed Free Pass, you'll need to go to a service center like the EMTU (National Transport Agency) itself, or partner transportation companies with documentation proving your unemployment status and the length of time you've been unemployed.

It is always a good idea to check the official EMTU website for the exact rules and locations, as they may vary.

Intercity transportation is a requirement for users. In the case of EMTU, users cannot live or work without having been recently registered in the ABC Paulista region.

In the districts, you'll need to gather information from the website, as there's no access to accommodation in the municipality of Mauá, in the ABC region. This is especially true for those who live outside the Metropolitan Corridor.

Observation: the applicant must do so with more than 2 months unemployed and less than 6 months unemployed (60 to 180 days). EX: More than 1 month and less than 6 months without a job.

The card is valid for 28 days on the premises and must be obtained by telephone at 4341-1175, from 8:00 to 11:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00.
