Created in 2021, the program offers a shield against the high cost of gas cylinders, guaranteeing access to this essential item for everyday life.
It was created to reduce the impact of the price of cooking gas on the budgets of low-income families.
The benefit consists of a variable amount, which represents at least 50% of the average national reference price of a 13 kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the previous 6 months, calculated by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
However, in 2023 the value of this benefit changed, it began to provide the full value of a gas cylinder.
In this way, protection for the families served was expanded, guaranteed by Provisional Measure 1,155/2023.
Thus, the Gas Aid passes on, every two months, the full value of the gas cylinder.

Payment of this benefit follows the Bolsa Família calendar and is made into a digital or bank account.
When the family does not use this channel, Caixa provides other means for families to access the financial benefit.
Gas Aid is a temporary, personal and non-transferable benefit and does not create acquired rights.
Furthermore, it can be accumulated with other benefits, aid and grants from the Bolsa Família Program and is not computed as income in the Single Registry.
So, be sure to check if you are eligible; without a doubt, it will be a help that will make all the difference to your family income.
Who is entitled to Gas Aid?

The main requirement for access is low income. But beyond the income criterion, you must meet the following requirements.
Firstly, you must be registered with CadÚnico, with a monthly per capita family income less than or equal to half the national minimum wage.
With this year's minimum wage (2024), per capita income should not exceed the value of R$ 706.
Another factor that may entitle you to benefits is having members residing in the same household who receive the Continuous Social Assistance Benefit (BPC).
Preferably being from a family with women who are victims of domestic violence and are under the monitoring of emergency protective measures also entitles you to the benefit.
The selection of beneficiary families is made directly from the Single Registry, Therefore, the only step to be taken by interested parties is to register at the Social Assistance Reference Center (Cras) in their city.
However, registration does not guarantee receipt: families that meet the criteria will be selected to receive the benefit.
