PIS works as a salary bonus, that is, it is a sum of money paid to workers in private companies who meet the rules established by the program.
This benefit is granted according to the time worked and the remuneration received by the worker in the given base year.
Who is entitled to the Salary Bonus?
To be entitled to the Salary Bonus (PIS), the worker must meet the following requirements:
- Be registered in the Social Integration Program (PIS) for at least five years;
- Have received an average monthly salary of up to two minimum wages during the base year;
- Have carried out paid activity for at least 30 consecutive or non-consecutive days during the base year, for employers contributing to PIS/PASEP;
- Have your data correctly reported by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS) for the base year.
Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that the payment of the Salary Bonus is proportional to the time worked in the base year.
In other words, the more months the worker has worked in the reference period, the higher the benefit amount will be.
What is the difference between PIS and Salary Bonus?
The term PIS, which stands for Social Integration Program, refers to the government program that encompasses the Salary Bonus and unemployment insurance.
The Salary Bonus is specifically the benefit paid to workers who meet the criteria established by the program, as mentioned previously.
Therefore, while PIS encompasses different benefits and services aimed at workers, the Salary Bonus is a specific part of this program, aimed at paying a sum of money to low-income workers.
